Elise

Mark Roberts “Elise was an amazing woman. She touched everyone she met, worked hard and lived a beautiful life, longer than some but shorter than most. I was the luckiest man alive – she married me, and I got to be with her 24/7. Remember Elise with a smile and fond memories.”

Just remember

28 October 2010 16:16 Maria Jackson

I got to know what a truly wonderful couple Elise and Mark were, through my job at The Christie. I work in the PR department there, so was in touch with Mark every now and though over media matters.

In my job, you get to meet some amazing people, but I was absolutely blown away by Mark and Elise. Everything they were doing and continue to do is out of this world. They remained positive and courageous throughout, despite going through such difficult times. The word ‘inspirational’ doesn’t even touch the sides.

Even though i didn’t actually meet Elise and Mark in person, i was devastated to hear the sad news.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mark and their family at this time.

lots of love xxx

So sad to hear this terrible news. I came across this poem, I hope you don’t mind.

You can shed a tear that she is gone or
You can smile because she has lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left,
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she’d want;
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

God Bless, Ian

I remember you so well from secondary school, though i left Stockport many years ago, and lost touch with many faces from the past, i can close my eyes and picture your smile, your positivity, your enthusiasm and kindness…then i read the stories of your courage selflessness and determination and can see how proud everyone is to have known you and to have been touched by you and your spirit. I have no doubt that you are looking down on us and will continue to inspire evermore.

I went to Harrytown with Elise for five years and remember her as a GORGEOUS person in every way. She radiated warmth and was a leader- never a follower. Elise was very popular but never made anyone feel left out. I spent mornings walking to the sweet shop with her before school and buying 2 oz bags of cola cubes! We went to a trip to London to watch the USA versus UK in Hockey which was a fun trip- I remember laughing with her the whole time. I wish I had kept in touch with her as she was a very special person. My heart goes out to all her family and friends and I will keep them and her, in my prayers.

12 October 2010 11:16 Jean & Geoff Welsh

I first met Elise several years ago when I moved into my first managerial role with Barclays. Always a smile and kind word from her, always time to stop and ask how I was getting along whenever I bumped into her. Never a bad word uttered or heard about her. She will definately be remembered with a smile – Her smile! x

11 October 2010 21:57 Sam Foster

I remember working with Elise when she was SBO at Didsbury, always smiling and dedicated to her work. I only heard recently about the biggest fight she was undertaking, and thinking of how she can raise money to help others. What an inspirational lady you were Elise, we were all lucky that you touched us all, no matter how small or how big it was. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mark & all your family xx

Our paths crossed some ten years ago at Northenden Branch–Ihad not heard that Elise was so ill. It has been a huge shock. Have read her diary of events and commend her courage during her treatment and illness. Her character was strong but was obviously tested right up to the end by this dreadful disease.
I will always remember her smiling face and bubbly personality and God Bless her . Mark I wish you well to face your future.

The ability to inspire is a god given talent and one that Elise and Mark found the inner strength to continue to do this through difficult times through this site and their appeal. I didn’t know Elise very well but somehow I didn’t need to. Through her and Mark’s words and those of others on here I feel I go to know her very well. In the time since her diagnosis her courage and steely determination to do their best to fight her illness has been amazing. That inspiration has encouraged others to do fantastic things for the Elise for Life cause and as a result, her amazing spirit will never be forgotten.

07 October 2010 08:49 Nicola Roberts

Elise you were my beautiful, kind, loving sister in law but felt more like a sister. Your smile could light up a room, you always were our angel. We will miss you so much it is impossible to put in to words. I know you will be looking down on us and looking after us. I know that God wanted you because of the amazing person you are. I will always remember the good times and how happy you and Mark were together. Thank you for being apart of our lives and family. We will think of you everyday. Sleep tight my Angel I love you so much.

I was lucky to have met Elise when she came to The Christie charity soon after her diagnosis. After hearing difficult news about her own health, she immediately thought of how she could make a difference for future patients which really is astounding. I think this goes a long way in explaining why she is so special to a lot of people.
Thank you so much Elise

I have only just found out about Elise’s sad passing on hearing an update about the appeal in the local paper. I was in Elise’s infant and primary school classes at St Joseph’s Reddish in the early 1980′s and although I havent seen her since we left primary school as she went to Harrytown and I went to St Anne’s hearing that she has died has filled me with sadness.

Rest in peace, Elise. I will always remember you fondly and you have been taken too soon.

Hi there, I came across your site through the Christie charity webpage, and was taken aback by the incredible campaign you have set up in Elise’s name for the Christie. One of my close friends was treated there recently after finding a cancerous tumour in his brain. After a long battle, he is now in recovery, and the Christie holds a very special place in our hearts for all they did for him.
Your story is so humbling, and all that everyone is doing to raise an incredible amount of money is so inspiring. I just wanted to let you all know that you inspire even those who have never had the pleasure of meeting your wife Elise, and I look forward to keeping up-to-date with the fundraising activities you undertake to reach this life-changing goal.
Best of luck, and my thoughts and well wishes are with you all.

You are forever young and beautiful, what more could we wish for? Except to have you with us!
You gave your life with grace, knowing that because you touched the hearts of so many, your legacy and the help your appeal has generated will live forever. Your goodness will save the lives of so many people and for you with your sweet heart and laughing smile, that will be enough.
Enjoy your birthday wherever you are – drink pink champagne, wear a silly hat and just that beautiful smile!
