Well, it’s HERE…….
Elise for Life Kilimanjaro Summit Climb 2013
Be part of something very special!
Following the hugely successful Elise for Life trips to China, climbing the Great Wall…..trekking the volcanic lava fields of Iceland….and cycling 450km through the Mekong Delta from Saigon to Angkor Wat….we now bring you the BIG one! I know so many of you have been waiting for this, and you won’t be disappointed!
As part of 2013’s push to reach our £1m target for The Christie hospital, we wanted to take 8 groups of 30 people to the 5,895m summit of Mt Kilimanjaro – the world’s largest freestanding mountain, and Africa’s highest peak! As this has been so popular, we are now recruiting for our 7th group!
A 12 day trip, you’ll start your trek in the rainforests of the Lemosho Glades, and head upwards as you acclimatise on Shira Plateau. From here you will catch a glimpse of your goal, Kibo – Kilimanjaro’s main ice-capped peak. You then continue via the beautiful Southern Flank, Barranco Wall and Barafu Route.
Temperatures drop at night, allowing you to enjoy the crisp cool air under the star-studded African skies. During the days you’ll rise higher; often looking down on a sea of clouds.
Our hosts, Charity Challenge have excellent success rates – 96% for trekkers reaching the summit – but don’t underestimate the challenge ahead. Most trekkers will never have experienced a day as tough as this, with 1,000m of ascent and over 2,000m of descent. It is however victory day!
I expect us to sell this trip out. If we do, it will be the single largest trip Charity Challenge have organised, and the single largest fundraising event The Christie have ever had – it should raise £350,000+ which would take us to within touching distance of Elise’s £1m goal. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of something amazing.
Costs;
Because of our established relationship with Charity Challenge, we can now offer this trip with only a £299 deposit – AND this can be paid over 2 months! Following that, we are looking for participants to raise a further £4350, but nothing will be due until at least the end of June 2013 – that’s over 14 months away! Barclays staff will know that with £2250 of £4£ matching available per person, per calendar year, it means you can pretty much cut the cost in half!
We are now running the following 7 trips;
* 4th-15th September 2013 (FULL)
* 5th-16th September 2013 (9 places left)
* 18th-29th September 2013 (7 places left)

* 17th – 28th October 2013 (FULL)

So, the numbers are;
Deposit – £299 (which can be paid over 2 months)
80% of sponsorship by 10 weeks before departure – £3480
20% of sponsorship by 4 weeks after return – £870
Also, if you’ve been on a previous Charity Challenge trip e.g. China, Iceland or Vietnam, you’ll receive a £100 rebate through the post from Charity Challenge!
Please remember, opportunities like this don’t come along very often. This is a real opportunity to take part in a once in a lifetime event – and most amazing of all, you’ll most probably save someone’s life by taking part!
Please let me know as soon as possible if this is something you’re interested in!
With all best wishes,
Mark
ps Yes, the pictures at the top were of Elise’s trip when she climbed the mountain in 2008 for The Christie. She was the toughest, bravest person I’ve ever met, but even she said it was the hardest thing she’d ever done. Let’s make her proud and climb this for her, and for all those brave people just like her, who need our help!
Registration
As places are limited, I am asking those who are interested to contact me by email (mark@eliseforlife.org) or by phone (07747114001) as soon as they can.
